International Association of Educating Cities
Present

I thank. very much to the International Association of Educating Cities Executive Council members as well as the different representatives from the local governments to have the opportunity to speak you about our city and to invite you to participate in the XI International Congress of the IAEC.

Guadalajara is located in the center-West region of our country; it has a great diversity of tourist, commercial, urbanistic and residential attractiveness. It is internationally recognized as the most mexican city of the country: most of mexican traditions are present in our city and we are very proud to present it before the international community.

Currently Guadalajara is a city that conforms a great Metropolitan Zone, we are more than 4 miliion inhabitants. In every corner our different traditions are present: culture, music, folkloric ballet, tequila and charreria make of Guadalajara a friendly city, a city with future vision, but mainly a city that has a great interest and compromise with education. Guadalajara today, as government, promotes education from the municipal vision; Guadalajara has many and different programs and actions focused to improve education and to support educative programs.

Projects as "Guadalajara Scholarship", that focused in the economic aid for public transport in order that our students can attend their schools; as RecreActive Route, a coexistence project that allows all citizens to use In an equitable and solidarity way the common public space; these are only two of the great experiences that Guadalajara has as a c1ear example of the support and commitment with the education.

In Guadalajara we will feel very proud to receive you in 2010. We will do our best effort and dedication to achieve an excellent International Congress of Educating Cities.

Again, I am very thankful for this opportunity and will Iike to invite you to participate in the XI International IAEC Congress in order to exchange, promote and analyze sport and its relations with democratic coexistence, educability, sociability, public health, human development and in sum, the citizenship practice in the cities as a priority of public policies.
