Guadalajara, Educating City, is not only the 10 experiences up pointed out. There are other programs that integrate it and that they have had a high impact among the citizenship of our municipality, among these we can list the following ones:
The Municipal Educative Academies are educational centers where qualification courses are given for the employment and life formation, in order to generate employment opportunities and self-employment, allowing improving the life conditions of the students and their families.
The Infirmary School grants to the young of both genders an opportunity to be prepare as General Technical Professional in infirmary.
Basic Education Supports it is a scholarships program that improve poor children´s school permanency, and with it improve their terminal efficiency, favor their physical and mental development. The children receive a monthly pantry; 700.00 pesos every four months; and a package of school implements at the beginning of the school cycle and additionally they receive in the public health system free medical care.
See Well to Learn Better, it is a program that assists primary, secondary and special education students that have some visual pathology, endowing them of glasses that favor the visual health and allow them to improve their learning conditions.
Quality Schools Program (PEC), this program has as general objective to implement in the basic education public schools a model of self-management, focused to the improvement of the learnings of the students and the educational practice; all through a strategic school, starting from a cofinancing outline, social participation and accountability.
Guadalajara, City of Readers, is an integral program that promotes the formation of civic readers, incorporating the reading to the daily life of each one of them.
Its objective is to put the book and the reading as fundamental factors for the economic, political, social and cultural growth of Guadalajara citizens. Their action lines are, among others, permanent campaigns of books donations; the "Knowledge Lighthouses" that are books exhibitors located in public and private spaces for the use of all the population; the digital books, whose objective is to promote the reading through digital books that can be download from "Guadalajara, Educating City" web; the reading promotion in the events such as the International and National Book Day; free books in the "Wednesday" Citizen" and "Recreactive Route"; and the installation of reading rooms in the "Recreactive Route".
School Action Program (PAE) is a program that supports the basic educational facilities of the municipality, with rehabilitation, services and training, and this way to reach a dignity school with the participation of the City council, the Parents Associations and the school authorities.
University Entailment is a program that Integra a set of activities of information and services to college students and specifically oriented to the solution of the municipality economic, social, educative and cultural development problems. Pursue for a stronger entailment between the university and the society in order to participate more actively in the development of the municipality.
Research and Studies, this office has the objectives to carry out educative research projects; to analyze, propose and evaluate the pedagogical scenarios in order to improve the educative activity; as well as to integrate and generate information on municipality education issues.
Editorial, this program has had the first great product with the edition of the book “Guadalajara, History and Geography”, publication that already is in his second edition with a 5,000 units. This text was published to serves as a complementary document of consultation for the teachers of the basic and medium education level, as well as a useful instrument in the education-learning process.
Civic Mondays, every Monday took place the flag honors in the City Hall Patio with the presence of municipal authorities and students of primary and secondary schools, to invitation done by the Special Projects Office. This program has the objective of promoting civic values among tapatios students.
"Jose Vasconcelos" Recognition and Prize to the Educational Excellence, is a distinction to six teachers of public or private basic educative institutions that by their dedication and effort have reached the degree of excellence in education to the students. The recognition and prize consist of the granting of a diploma in City Council Solemn Ceremony, and in addition an economic stimulus is granted.
"Educating with Values" Infantile Recognition, it is a distinction to ten students of public and private educative institutions, that by their dedication and effort have reached the degree of excellence in the experience of human values, that by the practice and promotion of such they became agents of social change and models for the society. The recognition consists of the granting of a diploma, the delivery of a book package, and a trip for the minor and an adult to a tourist place of our state or other state of our country.
Guadalajara Municipal Education Social Participation Council (COMPAS), this is a citizen nature council organism whose primary target is the accomplishment of analysis, consultant and opinion functions of educative issues of the municipality of Guadalajara. This council is integrated by representatives of public, private and social sectors of Guadalajara’s society.
Safe School it is an integral program that guarantee the development of the students with the prevention of violence, delinquency and the addictions phenomena that surrounds the primary and secondary education schools. This program initiated activities in September of 2007, focusing in 40 primary and 17 secondary schools. Its objective is that the schools helps to generate a safe community through the Scholar Social Participation Councils, so schools and community become better spaces and without violence, delinquency, and addictions where the children and young people can learn in an atmosphere that favors its integral development.
Scholar Social Participation Council, it is a program whose objective is to integrate and to operate in the primary and secondary schools of Guadalajara the Scholar Social Participation Councils that are integrated by school authorities, the teachers, the students parents, the former students, the community and the civil organizations; everything with the purpose of: to socially revalue the educational work; to support the teacher, the student and the school facility; and to negotiate with authorities and the community the school physical improvement.
Optometry School, starting from August of 2007 this school offers the optometry career in a new academic model that integrates the professional technical career and the formation of the high school (Professional Technical High school). It’s a flexible academic model for the students and based on the requirements of the productive sectors of the municipality.
"The Challenge of Being Young" is a course of information and prevention of negative actions for young, of orientation and better formation citizens. These courses started from the month of June of this year. So we are assisting a population's segment whose cycle of life experiences the difficult process of formation and consolidation of its personality.
"Scholarship Holders Communitarian Participation", In April of 2007 the operation rules of “Guadalajara Scholarship” were modified in order that beneficiaries can do social service. And from 2007-2008 scholar period the beneficiaries are coordinate by the General Education Bureau in activities of socio-educational and communitarian impact.
